So happy to back this site again.

Personal blogging is such a lonely undertaking. There are always highs and lows and sometimes when you are at lows you will not be able to sustain to get back to high thus forgot that you have a blog site.  This is what happened to me.... Way back 2010, I started this blogging and only a couple of blogs I got lost the interest. Good thing, Google did not delete this and I am excited to start it again.

I do not have the ambition at the moment to have this blog noticed.  In fact, any Internet enthusiast who happened to lost its way to this site is  immensely welcome. I hope you find something interesting.

Throughout these years my interests, like seasons, come and go. Its so sad that I have not able to record all of those.  I hope to get this slowly started again.

Lotto 6/55 results Tag Cloud visualization

The Philippine's 6/55 Lotto fever is over and the winning number and the whooping 731M PhP  goes to a single winner in Luzon (Olongapo city). We do not know if the person will bless or curse the day he/she won. His/her life will change forever!

Interestingly,  I have come up with a Tag Cloud visualization of the frequency distribution of all the winning numbers (1 to 55) since it started 15 May 2010 for that particular draw. The Tag Cloud shows which numbers frequently came up during draws. The larger the font in the number, the frequent the number is picked up.  As the winning number combination indicated (11-16-42-47-31-37), the tag cloud is not really that helpful in getting the exact combinations. For the purpose of fun and understanding of how the Tag Cloud works, I guess this is the best example to appreciate the concept.

Generating a Tag Cloud is much easier using Wordle site

Invictus

a poem of my youth, long forgotten but now found again. in my present state of life it is relevant and a fountain of encouragement. in all trials that come in our way, let us be headstrong...maybe being a bit stubborn but not reckless, resilient and not defeated. thanks william!

Invictus

 William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Downloading YouTube media for IPod/PSP

YouTube is a haven for some priceless video clips/file worthy to keep. In my case - in my Ipod. Recently, I found lots of lecture series which I've been wanting to learn during my free time. Since I have more free time on the road, it is very important to have these files in my keep, in my repository, ready to be watched anytime.

There are plenty of YouTube Downloader applications in the net that are "Freeware" but works like a "Shareware" and packed with lots of advertisements and will work for a couple of weeks only before giving a message that there is a new version of the application that need to be downloaded in order to continue the use of the program. In reality, there are not much changes or maybe not at all in the program

This is the strategy of this kind of "Free" application, to advertise. You are forced to download a "new" version so you can continue using the application on the other hand they can do their advertising as well. Its both a win-win situation for both user and developer but it is annoying sometimes.

I recently found this another "YouTube Downloader", YTD application from BeinneSoft site. The latest version is YouTube Downloader 2.6.2 (released September 23, 2010). Downloading YouTube media content has never been easier using this application. The good thing about this application is the option to download directly an .mp4 version of the video clips/files which is readily playable for Ipod or PSP.

To quote from the site;

What is YouTube Downloader?

You can use YouTube Downloader to download the videos of your choice from home, at the office or in school.

How to make your song sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks?

Easy! All you need is a good audio editor.

There are lots of  audio editor in the market but I would recommend to use a free, cross-platform digital audio editor and recording application named  Audacity

From Wiki...  "Audacity was created by Dominic Mazzoni while he was a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University. Mazzoni now works at Google, but is still the main developer and maintainer of Audacity, with help from many others around the world..."  What more?..Audacity It is available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and BSD platforms.

Here are the steps to produce that funny Alvin and the Chipmunks music from your favorite mp3's

1. Install Audacity.
2. Open the music file with Audacity.
3. Go to Edit>Select>All
4. Go to Effects>Change Pitch (Note: Experiment between 70 until 100)
5. Play to try it out. Go back to step 4 until desired sound is achieved.
6. Save your work

There are many things you can do with Audacity not just creating an Alvin and the Chipmunks music. You can also make your own ringtones! What are you waiting for, download Audacity now and make your own fancy music!

The future of mobile computing

This is me in the eye of a QR reader. The next step in the mobile computing is the integration of a code readers in the cell phone. QR codes can contain characters in alphanumeric combination. This is convenient since a single code can contain URL or text information which a cellphone can extract easily by scanning it using a camera. Gone are the days when we input each character of URL to the cellphone browser just to access it. Now you just scan it using the camera of the cellphone, of course with the aid of a QR reader applications, the URL and other information is readily extracted. So try it for your self.

For a start, you can get a FREE bar code reader for your mobile at this link http://www.i-nigma.com

You can also create/generate a QR or Data Matrix barcodes at this site for FREE QR Code Generator and DataMatrix Barcode Generator
